Growing Readers

The Regional Educational Service Agency (RESA) Growing Readers Program is a K-3 literacy professional learning grant administered through the Governor’s Office of Student Achievement (GOSA). The program aims to provide consistent and high-quality professional learning to teachers on effective reading instruction to help more children read at grade level by the end of third grade. Currently, Franklin Forest and West Point Elementary in Troup County and Western Elementary in Coweta County are participating in the grant with Early Literacy Specialist, Ann Marie Johnson at West Georgia RESA. The professional learning focuses on studying the informational, literary and foundational standards, balancing whole group, small group and independent practice, reader conferring, strategy groups and assessment.
